0-60 Times of 2021 Kia Models

Below are the engine specs and acceleration speeds of every model in the 2021 Kia lineup.

Kia Rio

The 2021 Kia Rio is equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 120 horsepower. It can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds.

Kia Forte

Most trim levels of the 2021 Kia Forte get their power from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 147 horsepower. These models take 8.2 seconds to reach 60 mph from a standstill. However, the compact car has a GT trim that comes with a 201-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-four, which reduces the sprint time to a respectable 6.7 seconds.

Kia K5

The standard engine of the Kia K5 is a 1.6-liter turbo-four that generates 180 horsepower. With this engine, the midsize sedan delivers a zero-to-60-mph time of 7.8 seconds. Similar to the Kia Forte, the K5 also offers a performance-oriented GT trim. Fitted with a 290-horsepower 2.5-liter turbo-four, this model can make 60 mph in a mere 5.2 seconds.

Kia Stinger

If you want a truly exciting driving experience, the 2021 Kia Stinger is the best option. This sports sedan comes with two potent engine options: the base 2.0-liter turbo-four with 255 horsepower and a punchy 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 that delivers 365 horsepower. A Stinger with the turbo-four takes about 7 seconds to go from zero to 60 mph, while a V-6 model needs only 4.7 seconds.

Kia Soul

The Kia Soul is the subcompact model in Kia’s SUV lineup. The base trim of this crossover uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that serves up 147 horsepower, which is good enough for a sprint time of 8.2 seconds. If you opt for the Turbo trim, you’ll get a 1.6-liter turbo-four rated at 201 horsepower. This engine launches the Soul to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds.

Kia Seltos

Also a subcompact SUV, the Kia Seltos comes standard with a 146-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that propels it from zero to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds. It also has an available 1.6-liter turbo-four that cuts the acceleration time to 7.4 seconds.

Kia Sportage

The 2021 Kia Sportage also has two engine offerings. Almost every trim of this compact SUV is equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 181 horsepower, which enables them to cover zero to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds. With a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-four under its hood, the range-topping SX Turbo can get up to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds.

Kia Sorento

The standard engine of the 2021 Kia Sorento is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder. Rated at 191 horsepower, this engine launches the midsize SUV to 60 mph from a standstill in 8.2 seconds. However, if it’s fitted with the available 281-horsepower 2.5-liter turbo-four, it only needs 6.2 seconds to reach 60 mph.

Kia Telluride

The Kia Telluride is larger than the Kia Sorento, but it also competes in the midsize SUV segment. Unlike its smaller sibling, it comes with only one engine option, which is a 3.8-liter V-6 with 291 horsepower. This engine helps the SUV scoot from zero to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds.

Kia Niro

Available in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric models, the 2021 Kia Niro is the most fuel-efficient SUV from Kia. It also doesn’t disappoint in terms of performance. The hybrid and plug-in hybrid models of this SUV come equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor that combine for a total output of 139 horsepower. With this setup, the SUV can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 9.2 seconds. An electric model, on the other hand, features a 201-horsepower electric motor that enables it to achieve a surprisingly quick sprint time of 6.7 seconds.
