Kia’s famous warranty is as good as it sounds when it comes to covering repairs on the model you bought from us at Kia of Streetsboro. The warranty speaks to the confidence Kia has in the engineering and manufacturing of its model lineup. The coverage offered on the Kia warranty is something you can feel good about when you drive your new home, or if you’re driving in to have your car looked at by our service department.
The Kia warranty is a comprehensive warranty that covers your car for up to 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. It’s designed to cover any issues that develop as a result of a manufacturing defect. Whether you’re close to home or hundreds of miles away, the Kia warranty offers roadside service to help you get on your way again. In this guide, we’ll cover what you can expect from Kia’s excellent warranty coverage.
The Kia 10-year/100,000-mile warranty combines mechanical repair with roadside assistance to bring you peace of mind during the ownership of your Kia. The warranty covers all Kia models with no exceptions. A Kia warranty covers:
After you purchase your new Kia, almost all its components are covered for 60 months or 60,000 miles from the date of first service, depending on which milestone you hit first. The warranty does have exceptions. For instance, it does not cover normal wear and tear to the vehicle. If your car needs warranty service, Kia reserves the right to replace the broken parts with OEM or remanufactured parts but provides a warranty on the replacement parts.
The basic limited warranty is the first line of warranty coverage you receive after buying your Kia. It covers all components of your Kia for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. It doesn’t cover wear and tear maintenance, but it covers any defects that arise in the car that originate from the factory. The exceptions to this coverage include:
Please note that under warranty, Kia will not reimburse an owner for any portion of the cost of a battery Kia did not install.
The powertrain warranty is provided to original owners of the Kia and begins when the 60-month/60,000-mile basic limited warranty coverage ends. The powertrain warranty lasts 10 years or 100,000 miles from the date of first service and expires when the car either reaches 100,000 miles or 10 years old. Items the powertrain limited warranty cover include:
Anti-perforation covers premature rusting of your Kia, provided you took care to keep the car clean and minimize the potential for rust. It does not cover accidental damage of any type. The warranty is designed to correct faults in the body of your Kia that were introduced during the manufacture and painting of the car. It’s not unheard of for a car to suffer corrosion to the point holes formed in the body due to a manufacturing defect, and the warranty provides coverage for issues such as this.
The warranty also provides paint repairs resulting from nonimpact discoloration, cracking, chipping, fading, or flaking for the first 36 months or 36,000 miles.
Kia provides a roadside assistance program for the original owner that lasts 60 months or up to 60,000 miles. Services include a tow to the nearest Kia dealer or alternative service location if the warranty covers the necessary repairs. If you run out of gas, you’ll receive 2 gallons of gas to get you to a fuel station. You can only take advantage of this benefit, however, twice a year. Kia also offers assistance for:
If your Kia breaks down when you’re more than 150 miles from home and needs repairs that will take more than 24 hours to complete, the program will pay for three days of a hotel stay for up to $100 per day.
The Roadside Assistance program features a hotline that’s staffed 24/7/365. Have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call for help.
Kia asks that you track issues with your vehicle to aid in the warranty process. This includes keeping records of paint issues, mechanical problems, regular maintenance, and any other steps you’ve taken to keep the car in good condition. Please note an issue as soon as you realize something isn’t right, and write it down in the log that’s included in your vehicle’s paperwork. Being able to produce a log and maintenance records helps you make your case for a warranty repair and eliminates the wear-and-tear argument.
The Kia warranty only covers issues that originated at the time of the car’s manufacture or that break due to no fault of the owner. The warranty will not cover any changes to the vehicle that alter it, damage to the vehicle through misuse, or damage resulting from a lack of regular maintenance. The warranty will also be void if you use the wrong fuel, oil, or lubricants in or on the vehicle.
