SUVs, Crossovers, and Minivans

The ever-popular mid-sized Sorento is back for 2022. You can choose between a seven-seater configuration, a second-row bench and third-row seats, or a six-seat setup with second-row captain’s chairs and third-row seats. The second row is ideal for adult passengers, while the third row is perfect for kids. You can stick with the standard V-4 engine, mustering 191 horsepower. Alternatively, upgrade to the turbocharged V-4 to access up to 280 horsepower if you enjoy traveling faster.

The all-new Kia Carnival is an excellent choice for those of you in the market for a multi-purpose vehicle. This minivan combines the benefits of seating for the whole family with extra storage space to carry large items. In addition, the Carnival has seating for seven or eight people, depending on the trim level you choose.

Even when your Carnival is packed with passengers, you still get a whopping 40 cubic feet of storage behind the third row. That’s a class-leading figure for minivans. Under the hood, you’ll find a 290-horsepower V-6 engine to provide plenty of power for your driving needs. Inside the cabin, an 8-inch infotainment screen comes standard, with the option to upgrade to a 12.3-inch unit and eight-speaker stereo if desired.

For a more compact option that still provides plenty of passenger space, check out the 2022 Kia Seltos. This subcompact SUV boasts two rows of adult-friendly seating and an impressive 26 cubic feet of cargo-carrying capacity behind the rear row. You can select from two engines in the Seltos. If fuel efficiency is your top priority, you’ll like the 2.0-liter V-4, which can put out 146 horsepower. For a touch more passing power on the highway, you may want to upgrade to the turbocharged V-4, which churns out 175 horsepower. The all-new Nightfall Edition, which includes some cool new design features, is one of two trims equipped with the more powerful engine.

Another option in the compact crossover class is the 2022 Kia Soul, which is winning praise from industry critics. US News and World Report ranked the Soul top of its subcompact SUV class. One of the Soul’s strong selling points is its competitive price. The base trim has a starting price of less than $20,000 and features two engine options, a V-4 with 147 horsepower and a turbocharged V-4 with 201 horsepower.

Inside the cabin, the Soul excels with an 8-inch infotainment screen equipped with standard smartphone compatibility. At the rear, the Soul has over 24 cubic feet of storage space, making it ideal for a long journey or short commute.

Kia’s largest SUV is the 2022 Kia Telluride, which can seat eight people. All three rows provide adult-friendly seating. If you only need seven seats, you can opt for captain’s chairs in the second row for a touch more luxury. Behind the third row, you’ll find a roomy 26 cubic feet of space for your family’s groceries or vacation luggage.

Sedans and Hatchbacks

For the mid-sized sedan shopper, there is the 2022 Kia K5. This car provides comfortable seating for five and plenty of cargo capacity for your weekly grocery trip. A 180-horsepower turbocharged V-4 leads the power train. However, if you like a bit more zip when you hit the accelerator, try the optional 280-horsepower V-4, which is available with the range-topping GT trim.

The 2022 Kia Rio is the option if you need a more compact ride. It’s also available in sedan and hatchback styles. The hatchback is better if you need to carry more items since you can fold down the rear row when required. Both rows of seating are suitable for adult passengers, and there are also two sets of LATCH connectors for installing kids’ seats. The Rio’s power train is led by a 120-horsepower V-4, which achieves a tremendous 41 mpg on the highway.

Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

The 2022 Kia Niro is well-equipped to meet your needs if you’re looking for a compact electric SUV. You can purchase the Niro in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or all-electric configurations. The hybrid and plug-in hybrid models are powered by a V-4 engine and electric motor that possess a combined 139 horsepower. Opt for the all-electric version, and your Niro will be powered around town by a 201-horsepower electric motor. In addition, the Niro EV has a driving range of 239 miles when it’s fully charged.

The Niro boasts two rows of seating and almost 20 cubic feet of cargo storage inside the cabin. The rear row is suitable for three kids or two adult passengers.

If you need an extra row of seats in your hybrid vehicle, the three-row Sorento is also available in a hybrid configuration. The Sorento hybrid seats up to six, with second-row captain’s chairs, and is powered by a turbocharged V-4 gas engine and an electric motor with a combined 227 horsepower. The Sorento Hybrid achieves 39 mpg on city roads and 35 mpg at highway speeds.
